RIDER NEWS | Jay Cowley ANNOUNCED AS U.K. PYGA RIDER

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who submitted an entry into the hunt for the new PYGA Mountainbikes U.K. Rider competition. The standard of entries was super high, from a varied range of backgrounds and far-flung corners of the U.K.  The U.K. is definitely alive with MTB talent, however there can only be one winner and there was one edit that really stood out.

Jay Cowley was announced on Saturday 6 February as PYGA’s U.K. rider and the latest edition to the world-wide PYGA team. His entry into the competition, produced by Ryan Hallett, stated its case and was definitely going to be a hard one to beat.

Jay’s background is in BMX and at just 14 he was the South West champion. He went on to become national champion and in his 20’s he switched to BMX freestyle and went pro.

Now into MTB, Jay said: “I’ve turned to MTB more and more in the last few years. The progression of bikes means I can mix my love for BMX tricks with skidding down trails.”

“Jay Cowley really knocked it out of the park with his ‘At the Local’ video” Pete Scullion, Wideopenmag

Duncan McCann, Co-Owner PYGA Mountainbikes said, “I’m personally so proud of the U.K. MTB scene which just never stops delivering. The quality of entrants we had into the competition shows the abundance of talent on our little island, and just how bright the future looks for U.K. riding. Thanks to everyone who took the time to send us an edit, it was a pleasure to watch through them all and we look forward to working with Jay over the next 12 months as our U.K. PYGA rider”.

When Jay found out the news he said, “I’m so stoked to be joining the PYGA team and I just can’t wait to get out on my new SLAKLINE. I’ve got loads of ideas for new tricks and riding edits and its awesome PYGA are giving me free reign to be creative. Watch this space!”

After lockdown measures in the U.K. begin to ease Jay will be producing a ‘welcome edit’. Stayed tuned to our social media channels and keep an eye out for his custom colour SLAKLINE which is going to look awesome.
